Guess what these German specialities are. Seems most of our traditional dishes are meat-based ... lots of saucages (Weißwurst, Rostbratwurst, Saumagen, Pinkel, Currywurst) but also the famous Blackforest Cake (Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte).

For me the weirdest ones come from the area I was born: Himmel & Äd (Heaven & Earth) which is fried blackpudding, mashed potatoes & apple purre and a dish from my current hometown Hamburg: Labskaus which is a mix of beef, mashed potatoes, pickled cucumber & beetroot, which are mashed and served with a fried egg and pickled herring.
